Update Pocono personality is showing...

Above our little lady Cara Mia has extended an olive leaf to Pocono and is on the same bed, Wow
I asked Pocono who's that pretty girl...

After she does her business in the yard I just have to mention Cookie and she comes fast tail wagging...

Pocono's Foster Family The Silva Heard

Below She loves to go out and lets you know when she has to.  She sleeps next to the bed on a pillow and is an early riser. She is a very shy little girl and on our walks will stop and watch the cars coming. After assurance she is OK she continues to walk.
Pocono's favorite spot is at Suez feet sleeping... She loves to play with her stuffed toys. She may not be a good mix with very small dogs as they do resemble her toys and she likes to play with them. Our little ones do not understand that... But she is very tender and has not had any problems other than our dogs yapping.
She eats well, can navigate stairs in and out to the yard. She does still prefer the ladies but she is warming up to me as I feed her and take her out. However she is still a very shy little girl, I did get some kisses the other day and loved it... :)

Expressions

Those of us who love greyhounds know how expressive their faces can be.  The trick is having the camera ready to capture some of these priceless gems!  Over the last week, I've been working on some of Pocono's expressions...

Bliss

Determination

Peace

Anticipation

Insecure

Uncoordinated
AKA... what do I do with these legs anyway?

Exasperation
AKA... STOP taking pictures, lady!!

Hope

Who says they can't talk????

Yard dog

No, Pocono hasn't been banished to the yard!  But she is exploring it a little more.  It took her several days to show much interest and, even now, she'd much rather be inside.  The pretty sunny day yesterday was a nice incentive to stay outside a little.

Pocono is doing better on the stairs.  She comes up them with no hesitation now, but she still needs to be pointed in the right direction and nudged just a little to start down them.

Her favorite place, though, is inside and on a soft bed.  Or, better yet, TWO beds :-)

Figuring out retirement

Meet Pocono!  This adorable little girl has been here 3 days and is learning all about what life as a pet is all about.

We're scoring an A+ in treats, stuffies, snuggles and meals!  Pocono is a social girl and appreciates as much attention as you can give.  Once she discovered stuffies, she rarely passes one by without a little play.

Today's the first day she's explored the yard.  She's not as interested in a yard as many greyhounds, and will probably do well with a small yard or just walking on a leash.  I haven't seen her run yet - she did trot this morning!!  OK, maybe it was a fast walk   ;-)

She's not tried to get on any furniture and, happily, seems to have lost interest in her early counter-surfing.  She hasn't chew things and hasn't even tried to rearrange things (except stuffies!).  We're still working on housebreaking, but her house manners otherwise have been excellent.

Like all greyhounds, she comes with an instinctive understanding of soft beds - ahem!  I think that must be part of the greyhound gene pool!!  It didn't take her any time at all to figure out where to sleep!

This sweet and beautiful girl is calm for just two years old.  She will mature into a wonderful companion.
